Q.
So you are Christians but you don't go to church?
A.
Some of us do and others don't. It is not as much about going to a building or institution as much as a way of living. We try not to live with all the religious obligations. That means some of us don't go to a 'church'
Q.
What do you do on Sunday mornings if you don't go to church?
A.
Sleep in. Eat a nice breakfast. File down our horns. Seriously, we often spend time with family and relax. Maybe go to work. Personally I work every Saturday, so Sunday is my day to get other things done. Everyone is different. Ask them !
Q.
I'm too lazy to read the explanation about the name. What is 'The Heresy'? Can't you write anything short?
A.
Which one do you want me to answer? No, I can't write anything short. Deal. Basically a lot of us have been accused of being heretics because we believe some things differently than those in power. 'The Heresy'we believe in is a heresy of love, grace and acceptance. The heresy we believe in is one of truth and learning. We no longer want to simply believe what leaders say, taking their word for it. We believe we can have a relationship with God without needing a human intercessor* or institution. For that we will gladly wear the name.
*I know that Jesus is human; I am referring to a pastor or minister.
Q.
So that's why people think you are heretics? You love people?
A.
There is many reasons people think we are heretics. The love part comes into play when we start showing mercy towards those who 'don't deserve it. Personally I get lots of flack for criticizing Christians when they attack homosexuality, more specifically the people themselves. Christians de-humanize them and boil it down to their sexuality and I think we should focus on them as people. I am not saying homosexuality is right or wrong, I am saying they should not be treated like we treat them, and I get in trouble for that. Other things are issues such as, 'Church Attendance', 'Tithing'and 'Leadership'. We will hopefully get into these issues in articles and blogs.
Q.
Some of you disagree with churches so did you leave to start your own church or religion or sect?
A.
No. I have been accused of simply wanting to start another denomination because I disagree. The problem is we don't have a set belief system here. Some of us still go to an institution, some may go to a home church, and some may not go anywhere. Some believe in hell and some don't, among other things. We can discuss things and not necessarily agree on all things, but we can learn something from everyone. We are not ones for strict adherence to beliefs. If you are searching for truth you are welcome.
